Michael Ng

Michael initially completed a Bachelor of Information Systems (Hons) at Melbourne University. During his years at university, sharing wine with friends over assignments, he began to develop a love of wine. In 2003 Michael decided to pursue this passion, enrolling in a Bachelor of Viticultural Science and Winemaking at La Trobe University in Melbourne. 2004 was also the year that Michael made his first wine, a Shiraz made in his garage, and from that point on his focus became winemaking.

After graduating he worked vintages in Turkey, New Zealand, France, Victoria and Western Australia. Michael has since grown exponentially as a winemaker and has gained 5-Star ratings from James Halliday for Forest Hill, Rockcliffe, Peos Estate, Willoughby Park, Ironcloud and Nannup Estate.

Michael joined Silkwood Estate in 2018, bringing with him knowledge and experience from more than a decade of winemaking.

Paul King

Paul joined Silkwood Estate in mid-2018. He brings with him sixteen vintages of experience from numerous wineries including Forrester, Evans & Tate and Driftwood. He enjoys fishing and camping and spending time with his young family.

Dan Simpson

Dan took over the role of Vineyard Manager in late 2018.

Prior to Silkwood, Dan has been managing/operating his family Vineyard Koomal Creek since settling in the Pemberton region in 2016. With a highly diverse background ranging from construction management to drag racing, Dan brings a fresh approach to the vineyard where he works to grow the regions premier wine grapes. “Great wines begin with quality fruit.” When not in the vineyard, the father of one can often be spotted fly-fishing for trout on a quiet little backwater here in the south west or in his workshop working on one of his classic Holdens.

Malcolm Benson

Malcolm has been with Silkwood since 2011 and has been an integral part of Silkwood’s vineyard. Malcolm has many responsibilities; he can be seen mowing the lawns of our cellar-door, keeping the gardens and driveway beautiful to pruning, harvesting and all general vineyard work.
